Community Support Funds Air Conditioning at Mount Alverno Center

Bon Secours Warwick Health Foundation "keeps things cool" at Warwick's adult home

WARWICK, NY (June 29, 2016) – Summer just got a lot more comfortable at Mount Alverno Center, thanks to community support.

Residents and staff of Warwick's Mount Alverno Center now have relief for the hot summer months with new air conditioning. AC has been installed in residents' rooms and throughout common areas.

"My fellow residents and I are looking forward to a cool, pleasant summer here in our comfortable Mount Alverno home," said Helen McKeona resident of the Center.

Bon Secours Warwick Health Foundation provided funding for more than half of the project's total cost. Monies raised at events, including the June Tent Party, the Golf and Tennis Classic and Winding through Warwick, helped to bring air conditioning to Mount Alverno Center.

The Foundation is the fundraising arm for Mount Alverno Center and other facilities in the Warwick Healthcare Campus, including St. Anthony Community Hospital and Schervier Pavilion.

Foundation Chair Raul Berina said, "Contributions from individuals and businesses make a tremendous difference in the well-being of our community. We are truly grateful for every dollar that our friends and neighbors donate."

In addition to the air conditioning project, community donations recently funded the renovation of 13 double and single rooms, including new bathrooms, new tile floors and a fresh coat of paint.

"When area residents and businesses support local healthcare, they show all of us how collaboration enhances, builds and expands the resources a community needs to stay healthy – and in this case, comfortable during the sizzling days of summer," said Mary P. Leahy, M.D., CEO of Bon Secours Charity Health System.

Mount Alverno Center Administrator Michael Becker said, "The community members whose generosity has made this improvement possible havedone so much forour residents. My sincere thanks to each of you!"
