Schervier Pavilion Residents, Families and Staff Celebrate Grandparents’ Day

Baseball Season themed picnic held outdoors at the skilled nursing facility on the Warwick Campus of Bon Secours Charity Health System, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network.

WARWICK – (September 10) It was a warm and festive day with colorful balloons, music, games, prizes, lots of baseballs and good company.

On Saturday, September 10, Schervier Pavilion residents, their families, staff and volunteers gathered together outdoors as well as under a huge tent to enjoy the annual "Grandparents' Day" picnic.

And, in the spirit of this year's "Baseball" theme, many of the guests, staff members and residents wore team hats and uniforms. But more important, it was an opportunity for generations of families to visit their loved ones and enjoy a traditional end-of- summer celebration.

The staff prepared lots of barbecue favorites and families and residents enjoyed a fun afternoon.  There were also games for the children and traditional popcorn, prizes and cotton candy, all free of charge. And thanks to the talent and efforts of Schervier Pavilion staff, the musical entertainment was non-stop. But most of all, residents stated that they enjoyed getting together with their families for a fun afternoon.

"It's wonderful that they do this every year," said Mike Franzese, whose father, Fred Franzese, enjoys life at Schervier Pavilion.

Administrator Lisa Brocky welcomed everyone and praised her staff for their hard work and dedication. Chaplain Sister Rosemary Corr, O.P. then gave the invocation.

"I want to welcome everyone and introduce our dream team at Schervier Pavilion," said Brocky. "It's a blessing to work with this wonderful staff, which is so dedicated to our residents."

Schervier Pavilion is a 120-bed skilled nursing facility licensed by the New York State Department of Health.  Dedicated to the highest standard of health care excellence, its full range of services, such as its therapeutic recreational program, are designed to respond to each individual's physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

In addition to quality long term care services, Schervier Pavilion also offers a wide range of short-term (sub-acute) care needs. Its sub-acute services include IV therapy, rehabilitation therapy and wound care. These services afford residents the ability to recuperate for a short time in the sub-acute unit of the facility and then return home where they can resume a more independent life.  In some cases, they can then enter Schervier Pavilion's Day-At-A-Time, an innovative medical adult day care program that provides nursing services, medication administration, ongoing evaluations and stimulating activities tailored to individual's needs and abilities.
