Schervier Pavilion Residents Enjoy Hot Cocoa Party with Children from Warwick Day Care Center

Also a Surprise Visit by New York State Assemblyman Karl Brabenec

WARWICK, NY (February 10) –  It was a fun morning on Wednesday, February 10, for both young and older at Schervier Pavilion, a skilled nursing facility on the Warwick Campus of the Bon Secours Charity Health System.

As part of Schervier Pavilion's intergenerational programming, residents had an opportunity to get together with children from the nearby Warwick Day Care Center for a "Hot Cocoa Party."

In addition to sharing hot cocoa and cookies, both the children and the residents were delighted to also enjoy the company of two friendly dogs, Rooster and Leo, courtesy of owner Pat Heffernan.
And there was a surprise visit by New York State Assemblyman Karl Brabenec who handed out Valentine's Day cards crafted by children attending Warwick's Park Avenue Elementary School.

As always, the visit by the children was a welcome experience for the residents and the staff of Schervier Pavilion.

"We publish a calendar every month that's filled with interesting and entertaining things to do throughout the day as well as some evenings." Said Recreational Director Kari Call, who is a certified therapy recreation specialist (CTRS). "Therapeutic recreation is essential to the quality of life and the quality of care of individuals receiving health and human services at our facility."

Schervier Pavilion is a 120-bed skilled nursing facility licensed by the New York State Department of Health. Dedicated to the highest standard of health care excellence, its full range of services, such as its therapeutic recreational program, are designed to respond to each individual's physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
